Otherworldly

An ancient landscape hidden inside the eye, shaped by light, texture, and atmosphere.

This interpretation explores the iris as something geological and atmospheric rather than purely biological. The rich copper and amber pigmentation resembles the surface of an unexplored world, while the surrounding organic textures suggest clouds, nebulae, mineral formations, and distant atmospheric activity. The central pupil provides a deep point of contrast against the complex iris structure, creating a composition that feels both intimate and otherworldly. The restrained palette gives the image a darker, more mysterious character than the brighter celestial interpretations in the collection.

The image is constructed around the natural microtexture of the iris, with close attention to the radial fibers, pigment distribution, and subtle tonal transitions that give the eye its dimensional quality. Fine art compositing expands these photographic details into a surrounding atmospheric environment, using layered textures, controlled blending, local contrast, and selective luminosity to integrate the organic and cosmic elements. The dark surrounding field is intentionally preserved to create negative space and strengthen the visual weight of the iris, while nuanced colour grading unifies the copper, brown, violet, and deep blue tones into a cohesive fine art palette.
